Resposta
Sim
Mecanismo(s)
(6) Envenenamento / toxicidade
Evidência
Envenenamento / toxicidade: It is discovered that no tested species on Madagascar have the capacity to survive ingestion of the novel toxin. The vulnerability is found in all examined species, including snakes, frogs, lizards, lemurs and tenrecs. The results suggest that the invasive Duttaphrynus melanostictus is liable to have significant impact on Malagasy fauna.

02. O táxon exótico causou declínio no tamanho da população de alguma espécie nativa?

Resposta
Sim

(6) Envenenamento / toxicidade
Evidência
Envenenamento / toxicidade: We collected qualitative data on the impact of the toads on Timor-Leste’s terrestrial biodiversity. Reportedly the Green Pit Viper Trimesurus insularis (a common poisonous snake on Timor), the Timor Monitor Varanus timorensis (a small monitor lizard), other snakes, and quail/buttonquail species (small birds that nest on the ground) have declined since arrival of the toad.

INFORMAÇÕES ADICIONAIS DA AVALIAÇÃO

Vias de introdução/dispersão
Individual stowaways are being increasingly recorded in countries such as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand (Kraus 2009; Measey et al. 2017) arriving via air and shipping pathways (Tingley et al. 2018)
Comentários e informações adicionais
The toxin in the toads makes them a public health risk for local people who eat frogs.
