Evidências por mecanismo
Compete com espécies nativas na Flórida, reduzindo a abundância e diversidade (Seitz & Clark, 2016)
Native forest seedling species richness and abundance decreased exponentially with increasing Tradescantia biomass. The compositions of the extant vegetation, seed rain and seed bank were consistent with our interpretation that light availability drives the differences in seedling species richness and abundance between Tradescantia and non-Tradescantia habitats. (Standish et al., 2001).
Overall, seven taxa were found only in samples from Tradescantia-infested plots, while eight others were recorded only from Tradescantia-free plots, indicating significant alteration / turnover in community composition (Yeates & Williams, 2001). Recognisable taxonomic units (RTUs) richness was lower in Tradescantia plots compared with non-Tradescantia plots. The impact of Tradescantia could be a result of the weed’s tall, dense vegetation structure and associated microclimate, relative to native ground covers. (Standish, 2003)
