The study site was located in La Rubina, located in the second most important wetland area in NE Spain, Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà in the lowlands of Roses Bay. Overall, our study system shows that the effect of the differences found between invaded and non-invaded areas, whether in soil properties or in vegetation structure are leading to an increase in small-scale variability, probably interacting with pasture. In particular, the areas under the influence of C. selloana have less nitrogen and less diversity than areas that are far from the invading species. (Domènech et al., 2006)
The abundance of an exotic species , Cortaderia selloana (Pampas grass), has been related to potential fi re occurrence in the Mediterranean (Doménech et al. 2005 ) . C. selloana is a South American longlived perennial grass native to Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay which is considered invasive worldwide and it was fi rst introduced as ornamental to Europe between 1775 and 1862 (Bossard et al. 2000 ) . It has escaped from cultivation and it is invading abandoned farmlands, roadsides, shrublands and wetlands. C. selloana is considered to increase fi re hazard because of the accumulation of dry leaves and fl owering stalks on the plant. (Vallejo et al., 2011)

The comparative analyses presented in this paper shows the similarities and differences in wetlands alien plant diversity between three areas from western Mediterranean, one continental (Valencian Community - Spain -) and two insular (Balearic Islands - Spain - and Sardinia - Italy -)... .... In the three territories, all invasive plants may cause impact on the environment because of fierce competition with native species, often causing their disappearance and modifying the function and structure of their habitats. The six invasive species common in the three territories, whichare a threat not only for the environment, but also foreconomic activities and human health are A. donax, C. selloana, R. communis, A. altissima, O. pes-caprae and E. crassipes, considered also invasive worldwide (CABI 2013).
