Avaliação de impactos

Há evidência de impacto ambiental?Sim

1. Redução no desempenho de indivíduos da biota nativa

Resposta: Sim

Mecanismos selecionados: (1) Competição,(10) Impacto físico no ecossistema

Evidências por mecanismo

Competição

Native tree individuals grew 65% less in exotic neighborhoods compared to native neighborhoods. Relative growth rate showed negative values under L. lucidum individuals for the abundant species Ocotea porphyria, Parapitadenia excelsa, Juglans austalis and Allophylus edulis, indicating competition.

Impacto físico no ecossistema

Invaded forests are dense because L. lucidum have straight trunks and branch high without intermingling their crowns, and has less cover in the herbaceous and shrubby strata. This structure creates low light conditions in the understory, hampering the establishment and growth of most species of trees, shrubs and climbing plants, ultimately resulting in the dominance of L. lucidum and the exclusion of native species.

2. Declínio no tamanho populacional de espécie nativa

Resposta: Sim

Mecanismos selecionados: (1) Competição

Evidências por mecanismo

Competição

Interspecific competition drives invasion. L. lucidum invasion triple total tree biomass irrespective of species richness

3. Extinção local de população nativa

Resposta: Não

Impactos socioeconômicos ou à saúdeThrough disrupting ecosystems, L. lucidum could influence (negatively or positively) human quality of life by affecting security, food and health. For example, in Australia and New Zealand, mature trees of L. lucidum on abandoned land and ruderal habitats have been reported to interfere with power and telephone lines (McGregor 2000); besides, the flowers of L. lucidum compete for bees, which may reduce the pollination of desirable crops like kiwifruit (Syrett 1987). In USA, Spain, Australia and New Zealand L. lucidum pollen has been reported to cause hay fever, asthma and other respiratory allergies (Wodehouse 1971; McGregor 2000; Cariñanos et al. 2002; Van Oosterhout et al. 2016) though there is no clinical evidence of this effect.
