01. O táxon exótico causou reduções no desempenho de indivíduos na biota nativa?

Resposta
Sim
Mecanismo(s)
(1) Competição,(12) Impactos indiretos via interações com outras espécies
Evidência
Competição: H. frenatus also showed the ability to increase foraging rates in the presence of its competitor, whereas L. lugubris foraging rates declined in the presence of H. frenatus (Petren and Case 1996) (Hanley et al. 1998) Impactos indiretos: The high relative density of H. frenatus at our sites, and their capacity to harbour Waddycephalus (a native pentastome, parasite), suggests that there may be impacts on native geckos and snakes through parasite spillback in Northeast Australia (Barnett et al. 2017).

02. O táxon exótico causou declínio no tamanho da população de alguma espécie nativa?

Resposta
Sim
Mecanismo(s)
(1) Competição
Evidência
Competição: The ongoing competitive displacement of the native Pacifc island gecko Lepidodactylus lugubris by the invading gecko Hemidactylus frenatus o€ers a unique opportunity to study the mechanisms of each of these avenues of competition as well as their interactions. On many islands L. lugubris and other nocturnal gecko species have been or are being competitively displaced by H. frenatus (Hanley et al. 1998) How does H. frenatus manifest its competitive superiority? Interference competition is usually the easiest form of competition to document since it is both visible and direct. (Case, 1994)

03. O táxon exótico causou a extinção local de pelo menos uma população de alguma espécie nativa?

Resposta
Sim
Mecanismo(s)
(1) Competição
Evidência
Competição: The arrival of H. frenatus in the Mascarene Islands decimated six species of Nactus geckos, and three of them are now considered to be entirely extinct (Arnold 2000, Cole et al. 2005) (Rodder et al. 2008) Past competitive interactions between the Nactus species and H. frenatus were most likely along the space and, for some, food niche axes. In experimental enclosures, the Nactus species had no effect upon one another, but were excluded from refugia through aggressive and predatory interactions with H. frenatus. The increased risk to shared enemies would likely have caused Nactus extinction from islands invaded by H. frenatus. (Cole 2005)

04. A extinção local observada é reversível ou irreversível se o táxon exótico for removido?

Resposta
Reversível
Mecanismo(s)
(1) Competição
Evidência
Competição: These Wndings support the hypothesis that H. frenatus led to the fragmentation and extinction of the endemic Nactus populations and demonstrate that artiWcial refugia made of a crumbly substrate may be used to limit future disturbances by this gecko and others like it in the Mascarene Islands and elsewhere.

INFORMAÇÕES ADICIONAIS DA AVALIAÇÃO

Vias de introdução/dispersão
It is thought that the species’ global distribution has increased since about the 1950s due to increases in international shipping and cargo movement (Greer 1989).
