Avaliação de impactos
1. Redução no desempenho de indivíduos da biota nativa
Resposta: Sim
Mecanismos selecionados: (1) Competição
Evidências por mecanismo
After the impoundment, the congener S. marginatus successfully colonized the upper rio Paraná basin and drastically affected the native species population in that region (Júlio Júnior et al. 2009).

2. Declínio no tamanho populacional de espécie nativa
Resposta: Sim
Mecanismos selecionados: (1) Competição
Evidências por mecanismo
At first, the novelty of the introduction and the presence of a new, more competitive species than its native congener led the latter to having its abundance reduced (Rodrigues et al. 2018); Agostinho & Júlio Jr. (2002), analyzing data from 21 sampling sites in the region of influence of Itaipu Reservoir and in the upper rio Paraná floodplain, detected an increase in the population of S. marginatus to the detriment of populations of the native species (S. maculatus).
